Topic elaboration for specific fields of study
Psychology
Psychological aspects of globalism and multiculturalism. The world around us is changing faster than anyone could have expected. By means of technology people are becoming closer and at the same time more distant. Traveling to distant countries we encounter elements of global culture that we share with completely unknown people and ethnicities. Our streets host foods, people and customs from distant places. How does the accelerated development of technology affect our attitudes, values and relationships with others? What moral dilemmas are being imposed upon us? What solutions can be offered?
Law
The concept of multiculturalism in the field of law raises a wide range of questions: Which are the legally relevant elements in the concept of multiculturalism; what is the method of legal formulation of its aspects within the internal law; whether international law contributes to dissemination and standardization of this conception and how; how can issues of equality and discrimination be dealt with; how are regulations relevant to the concept of multiculturalism enforced, and so on.
Security
Multiculturalism, security and social safety are of great importance to the reinforcement of human rights, minority rights and liberties of individual members of the community. A timely reaction by the state and society as a whole is of dire importance in instances of endangering of the civil and environmental security, as well as personal and social rights and liberties and endangering of personal and private property. Such actions require partnerships between state and private subjects within the filed of security in order to provide for full equality in the protection of property, business interests and information security.
Management and economy
In the context of globalization capital invariably erases all kinds of administrative borders and establishes a global market and uniform rules of conduct and evaluation. The processes of globalization inevitably intertwine different business cultures, philosophies, attitudes related to work, employees and capital, and so on. Conflicts of business cultures and philosophies are unavoidable but mustn’t represent an obstacle or hindrance to globalization and the creation of the free market. Apart from the information system development, an important factor that can contribute to the synthesis of different business cultures is management of the risks that are common to the global market and to the development of business in accordance with the global demands.
Philology
Language is one of the primary and inseparable features of a culture, as well as the means of identification with it. The contact between cultures is inevitably reflected in language and literature, which change and diversify accordingly. New conditions and demands require different approach to the study of languages and literatures, both in theory and practice. Papers from all disciplines, such as linguistics, literature, translation, methodology of teaching are invited.
Other humanities
As an objectively complex political community, the Republic of Serbia tends to represent its identity through achievement of highly set goals of multiculturalism, with varying levels of success, visible in the patterns of public policies, but also in the acceptance of general theoretical framework, which are of essence in the process of understanding this complex problem. This session aims to observe the concept of multiculturalism from the perspective of humanities, such as sociology, philosophy, political science and history, hoping to propose a solid basis for a discussion, and so contribute to the study of different aspects of this, in our region popular, yet understudied phenomenon.
